About Us

History & Philosophy

Cryovac Federal Credit Union (CFCU) was organized in 1959 by employees of the Simpsonville plant of the Cryovac Division of W.R. Grace & Co. These employees were concerned about the financial well being of their fellow workers. These dedicated employees, along with many other Cryovac employees, have worked diligently over the years to make CFCU the sound, healthy financial institution it is today.
All member transactions are held in the strictest of confidence with careful consideration to always protect the interest of the members and CFCU.

CFCU is a not-for-profit institution incorporated under Federal laws. Our charter was granted by the National Credit Union Administration, an agency of the federal government. The NCUA supervises CFCU operations to insure that we comply with federal regulations, our credit union bylaws, and that we observe good business practices.

We are totally owned by our members and managed by a nine member Board of Directors elected by the membership at its annual meeting. The Board of Directors, along with the Supervisory Committee, donate their time and expertise to make CFCU the best it can be.

If you have a need to contact a member of the Supervisory Committee, please send them an E-mail or you may contact committee members directly

Why Cryovac Federal Credit Union?

As a member of a Cryovac Federal Credit Union, you will be a part of a unique financial cooperative that is owned and controlled by the very people who use its services. Members, who share a common interest such as working at Sealed Air’s Cryovac Division, pool their savings creating a source of funds for loans that are made available to members at reasonable rates.  CFCU members are owners of the credit union with the right to elect to the Board of Directors people with similar needs and goals who will determine the policies and future direction of CFCU.

Lower fees, higher savings rates, and lower loan rates

As a not-for-profit institution, CFCU serves its members as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. This means you, the member, will enjoy lower loan rates, superior share rates, as well as fewer and lower fees. CFCU also offers other services which are either free or very affordable and may not be offered by banks. Visit CUNA for a complete comparison of credit union fees versus bank fees.

Successful and Financially Sound

CFCU has been serving its members since 1959 with over 7,000 members. CFCU enjoys the strongest rating offered by the NCUA.
To qualify for NCUSIF coverage, we must meet strict standards set by the NCUA.  We are audited annually by the NCUA and maintain a consistent above average rating.  In addition to the NCUA audit, the Supervisory Committee (appointed by the CFCU Board of Directors) conducts a continuous audit of the Credit Union and is responsible for a full audit of accounts annually,  Reserves are set aside each year to cover any unforeseen losses and/or uncollectible loans.
